Established in 1991, nowadays Bereg is the leading paper merchant operating at the territory of the former USSR.

The business started with selling paper of Russian makes: offset and newsprint, which was in shortage at that time. As early as in 1992 the company decided to start imports of coated paper and cardboard from Finland.
These years witnessed privatization of big printing enterprises and departmental printing-houses. New private printing houses also have been founded. Of course, these changes had their impact on the philosophy of paper trade. While during the printing boom and paper shortage of the early 1990s big volumes of paper have been delivered to a limited number of customers, by the middle of the decade the situation became completely the opposite.

Development of Russian Paper market offered new challenges to Bereg, forcing it to develop a sales system that would promptly satisfy the customers.

Within several years, Bereg has been growing from a small enterprise into an international wholesale company. Today our company is the biggest stockist of paper and cardboard in Russia having over 40 branches in Russia and several branches in the Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The goal of creating such a vast network of branches is to deliver whatever paper the customer wants as quick as possible.

Bereg links its future with consumables for the printing industry, ensuring success in this very field and avoiding scattering resources. We see our mission in providing Russian printers with a wide range of paper, within the shortest time limits and with the best service. To make it possible we focus on long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with both our suppliers and customers. We highly rate every customer irrespective of our turnover with him.

Fixed assets of Bereg comprise the network of sales offices and well equipped warehouses with the total area above 28,000 sq.m, the biggest of which are in St.Petersburg, Moscow and Rostov-on-Don (8,700; 2,300 and 2,600 sq.m in area respectively) . In 1999 the Bereg Sheeting Plant was launched, specializing in converting roll paper into sheets. Today it has the capacity of 10,000 tons of paper annually. In July 2000 Bereg Sheeting Plant was the first Russian paper converter who obtained European ISO-9001 quality certificate.

Bereg has numerous own registered trademarks.

There are 49 employees at the head office, 28 of them comprising the management, accounting and software engineers, 21 at the main warehouse in St.Petersburg and more than 400 employees at Bereg regional branches. Bereg staff is often invited to visit different paper mills.

Top-managers of the head-office and representatives of all branches meet on a regular basis to discuss current problems and prospects of the company's business development.

Our aim is to contribute to the improvement of printers' professional skills and knowledge. We invite the personnel of printing houses to attend Bereg seminars dedicated to printing tips and problem solving for new paper grades and specialty papers. Almost every year we publish the new edition of our book about paper, its variety, assortment with us, production, testing and printing tips.
